If you are at the theatre and have any questions, please approach a member of staff at the bar or box office - both of these are in the main foyer. A member of the Pleasance team will be happy to help you.

Our Box Office is open from midday until 15 minutes after the last show of the day, or until 18:00 on no show days Monday - Saturday. Our box office is located in the foyer of the theatre.

We welcome calls from customers who use RelayUK (formerly known as Typetalk).

We offer free carer or personal assistance tickets, please call or email our box office to arrange.

Pleasance is an e-ticketing venue. When you purchase tickets, you will receive an email confirmation with a QR code.

If you require a printed copy, you can still pick up your tickets from the Box Office. The box office is open for ticket collection until 15 minutes after the last show starts. 

Latecomers may not be admitted, we recommend arriving on site at least 30-40 minutes ahead of your show commencing.

Some of our shows may offer signed, captioned, audio described (sometimes accompanied by a touch tour) and relaxed performances. A full list of shows offering accessible performances can be found here.

Please note that for some shows not all performances are accessible performances, you can find more information on the specific show pages for each event. 

For some audio-described, captioned and signed shows you may need to book a specific type of access ticket.

Access tickets may include: 

  • Seating in a specific section with a clear view of the interpreter.
  • Seating in a specific section with a clear view of captions.
  • Booking an audio-description unit if required. 

Access tickets can be booked independently online, but if you have any additional requirements, require wheelchair assistance or need to arrange a complimentary carer or personal assistant ticket, please contact the box office

Facilities

Below is a guide to the facilities and services we can provide during your visit to the theatre.

The Pleasance is located above The Depot, to gain access to the theatre’s entrance level, there are 22 steps with a handrail on each side, there is a short bridge walkway before a further single small step at the front door. There is step free access via a lift from North Road up to our Mainhouse theatre, from here you can access the Mainhouse stalls, accessible toilets and foyer. 

To access the lift, please ring the bell on North Road and wait for a member of Pleasance staff to assist you. The entrance to the lift is located by the bus stop outside the theatre. 

Our lift has a depth of 50 inches/127cm, a width of 31.5 inches/87cm and has a weight loading of up to 240kg. In accessing the building, the narrowest part of landing area for wheelchair users to navigate is a width of 34 inches/86.5cm. 

Hearing loop systems are available, however these must be reserved at time of booking through the box office so we can set it up ahead of your arrival. If you have reserved a hearing loop, please go to the box office when you arrive at the venue. They can contact a member of our technical team who will be able to assist you in getting set up - please arrive in plenty of time ahead of your performance. 

When reserving a hearing loop, please give our box office as much information as possible about your requirements, equipment preferences, preferred positioning and any other information so we can best help you on the day. 

Toilets are located through the door to the left of the bar, all toilets at our venue are gender neutral. 

We have 7 cubicles and 1 accessible toilet. We don’t have a changing places toilet, the nearest changing places toilet is at Centre 404 which is a 10 minute walk away at 404 Camden Road, London, N7 0SJ. You can find details of this toilet and others nearby here.

We welcome assistance dogs at the Pleasance. We encourage you to let the box office know in advance as we require proof of third party dog insurance as well as time to make adjustments to your booking (including allocating a suitable seat) or to notify you of any show content.

You can request large print versions of any materials by emailing the box office

We have a lowered counter at our box office. In the foyer area we have a mixture of high tables by the bar and lower tables along the light box. We also have a low table under the stairs.

You are able to order pizzas from Yard Sale Pizza. You can find their website here and menus on each table with order instructions. In some shows, you can also order pizzas directly to your table in the Main House, a member of the Front of House staff will be able to let you know if this is possible.

If you have a wheelchair or mobility scooter and need us to store it while you are in a show, this can be arranged. Please get in touch with our box office ahead of your visit to let us know so we know to expect you. 

There are air handling systems in all of our venues to keep air moving through the spaces either via air conditioning or fans however this air is not filtered. 

You are not required to wear a mask when attending shows at The Pleasance, however if this would make you feel more comfortable you are more than welcome to. Our staff are also not required to wear a mask but they may also opt to wear one. 

Taxi Drop-off points

Vehicles can drop off immediately outside the mews on which Pleasance is located, but please note that it cannot enter the mews itself. 

Spaces Guide

We have three performance spaces at our Islington venue across the main theatre building and the adjacent car park. You can find out more about each of our spaces below including size inclusive information about our seating (none of which have arm rests). Number of steps up (+) or down (-) are indicated by numbers and relative to the foyer level of the theatre. 

This is located on the entrance level of the building. We have accessible tables at the front of the stalls which are suitable for wheelchair users, please contact the box office about booking these. 

To access the circle there are 8 steps (with a handrail on each side) from the stalls and an additional 6 steps (with a handrail on each side) to the upper circle/balcony level.

  • Stalls/Circle/Upper Circle Chairs (movable), seat dimensions: 380mm x 380mm

  • Stalls/Circle - Metal Stools (movable), seat dimension: 315mm x 315mm

  • Rear Stalls - Leather Backed Stools (movable), seat dimensions: 410mm x 400mm

  • Rear Stalls - Leather Button Stools (movable), seat dimensions: 340mm x 340mm

  • Circle/Upper Circle - High Benches (not movable), seat dimensions: 450mm x 420mm

  • Balcony - Button Stools (not movable), seat dimensions: 370mm x 370mm

This is located in the car park next to the Pleasance on ground level. Step-free access to the car park from the street is via the back left of the cobbled mews.

Step-free access to the venue is up a ramp at the front of the venue which takes you into the venue via the stage, the seating in Downstairs are tip-up benches so wheelchair users can sit anywhere along the front row.  

If you are entering the venue via the stairs to the top of the seating rake, there are 7 steps up (with a single handrail on the right hand side).

  • Tip-up Benches (not movable), seat dimensions: 500mm x 450mm

Unfortunately there is no step-free access to this space. Once you are in the space, there are a further 3 steps up to the back of the seating rake and a further 3 steps down (with a single handrail on the right hand side) as you approach the front of the stage.
